In 1960's France, the only animal toys available were farm and pet animals. One Monsieur Rampeau, a master Hevea latex manipulator, decided to spice things up a bit.

The original Sophie La Girafe, the same design you see today, hit the markets on Thursday, May 25th, 1961.

To this day, Sophie is made with natural rubber, a must have historical classic for teething babies.
