Cheeki Sports Water Bottle Lid - Tri-Tech

Bought the kids water bottle with this lid. At fist it seemed to work okay (although having three flow selections seems unnecessary - we just used the highest flow setting and closed setting). It didn't leak when on the closed setting, so it could easily go sideways in the bag without soaking everything else. But after a few months, my kid managed to break it. I don't put this down to design failure - I think my kid was just too rough with it. So I decided to buy a second one. Unfortunately, this one appeared to be faulty and wouldn't lock closed, so it would leak when sideways. Biome were very helpful in organising a replacement from Cheeki. However, after only a few weeks of use, this third one also broke when the pin holding the cap fell out. This did not appear to be due to rough handling at all, but some sort of design fault. It is still somewhat usable and doesn't leak, but there is no cover for the spout. I would not buy this type of lid again.

Luckily, I had also thought to buy a simple screw-top lid for this bottle, which seems reasonably hardy, and which means the good quality stainless steel bottle can still be used. We have an older design from Cheeki brand for which I also have a screw-top lid, which has lasted for ages, but the old style sports lid also did not last. I would recommend cheeki brand bottles with simple lids again, but not the sports lids. If you do buy a kids bottle with a sports lid, make sure you also buy a simple screw lid so you continue to…
