The festive season is such a special time for so many of us. Every family or friendship group has traditions that make the time meaningful. So we decided to share some of the memories closest to our hearts here at Biome. Favourite Festive Season memory?
“As a family we used to put together a puzzle over the course of the day. People would come and go, adding a piece here and there. When we were younger it was a world map puzzle. We upgraded to a 1000 piece puzzle once we got a bit older!”
Fun festive season tradition or activity that your family has?
"Watching the old White Christmas movie and falling asleep in the afternoon."
Favourite festive season memory?
“Volunteering at my local homeless shelter each year. Each Christmas, I spend my day with those less fortunate. My local Community centre runs a Christmas day feast for those in the community who cant afford it or simply have no one to spend Christmas with. There is no judgement and it feels so warm and loving. I bring joy to everyone by face painting, creating laughs and big smiles which is what Christmas is all about. I love being involved with my community.”
Favourite festive season memory?
“Holidaying with my extended family in the Bunya Mountains and playing around on Christmas day with my cousins and grandmother.”
Favourite festive season memory?
“Listening to the Cologne Cathedral bells in Stille Nacht before we open presents.”
Fun festive season traditions your family has?
“We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve by listening to German Christmas Carols and eating German foods such as potato salad, sauerkraut, schnitzel, and black forest cake for dessert. We then spend Christmas Day by the pool!”
Favourite festive season memory?
“Family Christmas Holidays tenting with my family in the Coromandel NZ.”
Fun festive season tradition or activity that your family has?
“Opening our stockings in the morning all together while playing Christmas music and enjoying a glass of bubbles.”
Favourite festive season memory?
“Making a snowman out of a pillowcase in Edinburgh as a kid because there wasn't enough snow outside.”
Fun festive season tradition or activity that your family has?
“My sister and I plan an epic gingerbread dessert to have on Christmas Eve for our immediate family. We started with individual mini gingerbread houses one year, then made gingerbread snow globes, then fireplaces complete with tealight candles inside and little gingerbread stockings hanging over the top.”
Favourite festive season memory?
"Growing up my pop would take all the grandkids for a drive out to the forest so we could pick out the perfect real Christmas tree! It would sometimes take hours to find the perfect one but we would come home very proud of our choice!"
