First, we'll look briefly at why rosemary oil is good for hair.

Is Rosemary Oil Good For Hair?

Rosemary stimulates hair growth by improving blood circulation in the scalp, providing nutrients and oxygen to the hair follicles. This promotes healthy hair growth and reduces hair loss. Additionally, rosemary helps strengthen the hair follicles, making them more resistant to breaking.

Rosemary is also effective in addressing dandruff and scalp issues. Its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties help to combat dandruff and soothe dry, itchy scalps. It also regulates oil production, preventing excess oiliness.

Using rosemary-infused products can enhance the shine and lustre of your hair. Rosemary smooths hair cuticles, reducing frizz and improving hair texture. It is a natural conditioner, moisturising the hair strands and combating dryness.

Incorporating rosemary into your hair care routine through essential oil, fresh or dried rosemary products gives healthier, more vibrant hair. Remember to perform a patch test and consult with a professional if you have specific concerns.

    Ingredients:

    Procedure:

    1. Mix castor oil and jojoba oil in a small bowl.
    2. Add Rosemary essential oil.
    3. Pour into your glass bottle.  Voila!

    How to use rosemary oil:

Take a small amount of castor and rosemary oil and gently massage into your scalp and hair, not forgetting your ends.

Brush or comb through. A wooden comb or brush with rubber pin heads is best.
Pin hair up or wrap in a towel and leave for 30-60 minutes. You can leave castor oil on your hair overnight if desired.

Wash your hair with a good lathering natural shampoo twice then condition.
    Do this once a week.

Tip: Keep a small bottle of this homemade hair oil in your bag when out and about. It's good to use a drop to control frizz or tame stray hairs.

    2. DIY Rosemary Hair Oil Using Fresh Rosemary

Rosemary bushes are very common in gardens in Australia and around the world. This is a great opportunity to use some of that local-grown fresh rosemary.

    Ingredients:

    • 1/2 cup of castor oil and 1/2 cup of coconut oil
    • 1/2 cup of fresh rosemary sprigs

    Procedure:

    1. Rinse the fresh rosemary sprigs under running water to remove any dirt or impurities. Pat dry with a clean towel.
    2. Chop the rosemary sprigs into small pieces to release their aromatic oils.
    3. Pour into a saucepan the coconut and castor oil, and chopped rosemary.
    4. Heat the saucepan over low heat and simmer gently for about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the rosemary from sticking to the pan.
    5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the oil cool for a few minutes.
    6. Place a fine-mesh strainer over a clean container or jar. Slowly pour the oil through the strainer, separating the rosemary from the oil.
    7. Use the back of a spoon or clean fingers to press the rosemary against the strainer, extracting any remaining oil.
    8. Discard the used rosemary leaves and transfer the strained rosemary oil into a clean, dark glass bottle for storage.
    9. Store in a cool, dark place to preserve the oil's potency.
