Swap #1 - Nappy Rash Cream
Nature's Child Bottom Balm
The organic calendula and comfrey work gently to soothe any skin irritation or dryness, so it's ideal for treating nappy rash, and other skin irritations. It is actually one of our best selling baby care products, with so many of our customers loving how effective the natural formula is on their baby and the whole family. How is it safer for my baby? The aim of Nappy Rash Cream is to form a barrier between baby's skin and the sting of urine, mostly when their wearing a cloth nappies . In products like Vaseline and most nappy cream, this is achieved with impenetrable petroleum derivatives! Petroleum and mineral oil can't be metabolised, are carcinogenic, and don't let the skin breath. Whereas, Nature's Child Bottom Balm uses beeswax for the barrier and organic oils to nourish the skin. Swap #2 - Baby Powder
Little Innoscents Mineral Powder
Little Innoscents mineral powder contains only Kaolin (an Australian white clay), and Certified Organic essential oils, with the kaolin effective in absorbing toxins and excess moisture. It is a natural alternative to talc. Clay is also ideal in relieving skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, cradle cap, and nappy rash, particularly suitable for sensitive skin. How is it safer for my baby? In light of recent court orders in the United States that have found that talc is potentially carcinogenic*, we recommend the safer options of kaolin clay, cornstarch or tapioca. *Talc is the softest mineral on earth, but talc deposits are often found near asbestos. Until recently nearly all baby powder was made from talc and may have been contaminated with asbestos, leading to three U.S. jury verdicts linking regular use of J&J talcum powder to ovarian cancer. It is also suitable and natural skin care products for babies through to adults. How is it safer for my baby? Johnson's Baby Oil is claimed to provide a "silky barrier" on baby's skin ... but, the listed ingredients are only "Mineral Oil and Parfum", both directly derived from petroleum. Let's make that clear, Mineral Oil is a liquid by-product of refining crude oil to make petrol. Mineral oil certainly does "lock in" moisture, stopping the skin from breathing or carrying it's natural functions. And, as stated on the safety directions for Johnson's Baby Oil "Keep out of children's reach to avoid drinking and accidental inhalation, which can cause serious injury." Meanwhile, Beauty and the Bees honey bath cream is made from botanical oils, and is free from petrochemicals, SLS, detergents, chemical preservatives, and synthetic scents.
