If you've been following along on Biome's Instagram we've been counting down the weeks with ideas for a Sustainable Christmas.
In our final post, it's time to RE-think and RE-gift!
Biome's mission is to be part of the solution to a safe, healthy future on our planet for all. So, in this most consumptive of seasons, we encourage you to re-think your purchasing and give something re-purposed, or re-gift something you did not use.
What's a Thrifty Santa?
In that spirit, for the Biome Christmas party this year, we had a different kind of Secret Santa—a Thrifty Santa! The guide was something under $10 in value that was thrifted, made by you, or re-gifted.
On the night, we drew out the name of a person to give our gift to. With the giving, we shared a story behind where the gift came from. As many of the Biome team work in different locations, it turned out to be a great way for people to create a connection.
Some of the awesome gifts our talented team gave:
Make Your Own Mulled Wine Kit
Re-gifted Necklace
It was a perfect match for the new recipient who rocked the style!
Origami Cranes in a Re-gifted Solar Jar
Our giver folded a hundred tiny origami cranes that looked gorgeous with the lights in the solar jar. This gift landed with a very appreciative recipient—someone who is also a creative and made their gift too (see the next photo!).
Crochet Flower Posy
Re-gift a Loved Book
Handmade Cards
More origami cleverness... See the tiny origami stars on the hand-drawn tree, and the wonderful string art heart. This lucky recipient was honoured knowing how much time had been spent on these beautiful cards.
Re-gifted Handbag
We're still a family business at Biome owned by Tracey and Rob. Rob was lucky to receive a re-gifted hand bag from our niece! No more need to ask others to carry his glasses, wallet, phone and keys on a night out.
Merry Thrifty Christmas everyone.
