How to Make Your Own Face & Body Cleansing Clay Bar
Ingredients
- 1 cup white kaolin clay
- 1/4 cup alcohol free, pure witch hazel (you may need a little more, and you could also use half witch hazel, half distilled water)
- 6 drops lavender essential oil
Method
- Place the clay and essential oil into a glass bowl and slowly pour in approximately 1/4 cup of the witch hazel or distilled water. Mix together with a spatula, mashing and blending, until the ingredients are combined. Use your hands if it's easier.
- If the mixture is too dry and crumbly still, then slowly add more of the witch hazel or distilled water and continue to mix until you have a dough like consistency.
- You should now be able to start molding your block together into your desired shape. Roll into a smooth ball or press down to shape using an egg ring as we've done here. If you think it's not smooth enough, add a little distilled water, a drop at a time.
- If you add too much witch hazel or water and it becomes too wet, add a bit more clay.
- Once you're happy, smooth down any rough edges with damp fingers and place onto a tea towel to air dry at room temperature for about 3-4 days.
- Your clay bar is ready to use once it's completely dry. In damp or humid weather, this may take a little longer. If it dries too fast it may crack.
How To Use
Wet your face and body, and gently rub the clay bar all over as you would with a bar of soap. Leave on for 3-5 minutes and then rinse off thoroughly. Pat skin dry, and apply a light moisturiser or floral hydrosol to hydrate your skin. Store in a dry place, out of the shower, and allow to air dry between use. Do not leave it in water. Use twice per week for healthy clear glowing skin. Recipe by Nancy George.Disclaimer
